Why Does Pandora Play the Same Songs Over and Over Again

Anyone else run into this? I have a station setup but it seems like it generally cycles through the same songs. They aren't even all the same ones that I have thumbs up'd. Heck - one played today that I had thumbs up'd and I haven't heard that song in over a month. Meanwhile I've heard a different song ~4 times this week (about 50min of listening a day during my commute)

People still use Pandora? I think I stopped using it a few years ago when it became clear Spotify pretty much did everything better, had a fantastic interface, and had more features. I imported my Pandora likes into a Spotify playlist and haven't gone back since then.

I especially got tired of getting the same recommendations on multiple stations on Pandora. I have a big archive backlog of Discover Weekly tracks thanks to IFTTT + Spotify.

Pandora was awesome early on and they pretty much pioneered and owned the music recommendation space for a while, but they didn't improve their service fast enough. Spotify's recommendations (especially Discover Weekly) are spot-on for me.

I still use Pandora at the gym, and yes it does play a lot of the same songs over and over even if I don't have them thumbed up. But that's okay by me because I like those songs, and if I don't, I thumbsdown them. It also does throw new songs in the mix every now and again though, which usually leads to a new variety of songs that comes on if you thumbsup one of them.

I tried Spotify a while back but did not like it really. I never saw the same randomness that I got with Pandora (even if it does repeat, because there aren't infinite songs). It was nice when I wanted to hear a full album of an old artist I liked though.

I use it mainly at the gym and sometimes around the house.

Didn't use it a lot until I recently got a car with bluetooth. I'll give spotify a shot

If you don't want to hear a particular song - you can remove it from the playlist for 30-days.

"I'm tired of this track"

If you'd like to prevent a song from playing for a while, but you don't want to give it a thumbs down, you can select "I'm tired of this track."

From the Now Playing screen, just tap the album artwork to view the track details, then tap the three dots in the top right and select "I'm Tired of this Track."

Only problem with the "I'm tired of this track" deal is then it plays the live version, the acoustic version, the best of version, lol. Exaggerating a bit but it does do that.
